The Love Hate Relationship With Pinterest
I would be willing to bet that the majority of engaged women have a ‘Wedding’ Pinterest board. I know I am guilty of it- mine has 161 pins in case you’re interested. I don’t remember if it was the first thing I did after I got engaged, but it was certainly in the top 10. And it goads you! Because now when I log in to Pinterest that home suggestion page is FULL of wedding stuff. I innocently click on one thing... and it leads to a whole page of other things and before you know it, it’s 3am. I can’t be the only one who does this, right?
So this is the love part of the relationship. I can type in whatever idea pops into my head and suddenly it’s not just an idea, there’s a concrete vision of it. I can see what it looks like in every color and probably find a better idea too. I can pin it to my inspiration board to come back to it later... And then it tells you how to make it!
And here comes the hate part of this relationship. Because now I’m not up till 3am looking at the computer, I’m up till 3am getting hot glue burns and attempting to channel an artist. Which believe me, I am not. Now this one I know I am not
alone in. There is literally an entire website dedicated to those like me: people who became inspired. That is, inspired to forget that they failed art class in the 7th grade.
So my advice is this, unless you were lucky enough to be blessed with amazing artistic ability, hours of extra free time and the patience of a saint, leave the projects to the professionals. They are professionals for a reason. Don’t get me wrong- Pinterest is a great tool for inspiration. Collect those pins and use them to show your florist, baker or photographer exactly what you want. And leaving things to a professional doesn’t mean having to spend your life’s savings. At Everlasting Elopements, we work with in-house, independent, and local florists, bakers and photographers, to offer simple and elegant additions to your wedding ceremony. They get to know you, and design exactly what you want, for half the cost and stress of DIY or shopping around. We’re a one-stop-shop for a reason… it just makes sense. We want to leave the fun in and take the stress out of planning your wedding. And your photographer won’t have to edit burn marks off your fingers.
